Sensei Gary Stewart founded his first Dojo in 1988. For the past 18 years, Westminster Karate Club has been based at St Andrew’s Youth Club in central London. Westminster Karate club is very well established and its outstanding reputation is as strong, if not stronger, now as when the club began. The club is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Westminster Karate Club’s juniors became a force to be reckoned with at National competitions. Over the years, the junior members of the club grew into tremendous senior competitors and have won many various titles at every competition. The club has champion competitors at every level and age group. Many of the club members have been selected to join the England Squad Team and have travelled as far as Thailand and Australia to compete in World Championships. Sensei Gary coaches the England squad and has led the team members to great victories at European level.
Many of the Club’s past achievements were surpassed at the National Championships on 29th June 2013 which was held at the K2 arena in Crawley. The performance of Westminster Karate Club students was exceptional and they have collectively won 22 medals. This recent achievements rank the club as one of the most successful JKA affiliated clubs in the country
